Strollers Win Top Award

Glenrothes Strollers represented the Scottish FA East Region at this years Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, presented by McDonalds and The Sunday Mail.

They came out top in the highly contested category for Best Grassroots Community Club. Representatives from the club were delighted to be invited to a plush ceremony at Hampden Park to receive their award from Craig Levien and Kenny Dalglish.

Eighteen months ago, Glenrothes Strollers were a disparate group of teams who shared the club name but all operated independently. In January 2009, with support from the Scottish FA East Region and Fife Council, all fifteen teams signed up to a shared vision for the future and agreed on a five year development plan.

The whole club moved to Over Stenton Park and have now developed an open parkland into a brand new football facility, with nine football pitches, their own car park and eight changing rooms in refurbished portacabins. All of this work has been completed by their own volunteers which is why Glenrothes Strollers were awarded as Best Grassroots Community Club at this year's Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, presented by McDonald's and the Sunday Mail.
