Angus Success at SportTayside & Fife ‘Fun in Athletics’ Finals
On Monday 22nd January, the SportTayside & Fife Fun in Athletics Finals took place at Next Generation Clubs, Monifieth. The Festival was organised by SportTayside & Fife in partnership with Sportshall Associates, as part of their UK-wide road show.
Schools from Angus led the way in a tightly contested event. Borrowfield Primary, from Montrose, took the honours after a hard fought battle with Forfar’s Chapelpark Primary as well as schools form Perth & Kinross and Dundee. There was a fun, vibrant atmosphere as the six competing schools strived to win each event in a loud, enthusiastic event.

Fun in Athletics is a team based competition, with each team consisting of approximately 12 boys and 12 girls from Primary 6 / 7. The children take part in a variety of events including relays, standing long jump, vertical jump, standing triple jump, javelin and speed bounce.
Angus College NC and HNC sports students were on hand to assist with the final; having recently been through a Sportshall Leaders Award.
